My modeling career start at 40 years old
Throughout my entire life, I have been considered to have model looks by most, and I have always desired to pursue modeling as a career. Being born and raised in a small city in communist Poland, where business fashion was not well developed, I had very few opportunities to break into the industry. It was not until much later in life, after moving to the USA and raising a family, that I was able to seriously pursue this dream.
The challenge came in 2000 when I aimed to convince agencies that a 40-year-old woman could be a viable concept in such a youth-oriented industry. I embarked on a self-promotional campaign, reaching out to leading agencies. The initial response was, unsurprisingly, rather discouraging. Despite the initial reception, however, I persevered and eventually found representation at the Elite agency in Chicago as a runway model. There, I found success, participating multiple times in Hermes Pret-a-Porter shows in Paris.
While in Europe, I also had editorial work, including a shoot in Qatar for Marie France magazine.
Eventually, at the age of 45, I moved to NYC after signing with the Wilhelmina Agency, becoming a professional model. I started modeling for magazines and on the catwalks of the fashion world, appearing in TV commercials for various brands and participating in TV series and films.
I took a break from the industry for 8 years to focus on my nonprofit work. When I moved back to Poland in 2020, I resumed modeling and started working with the Bold agency in Warsaw
2020-2022
NYC LOCKDOWN PHOTOSHOOT
When Manhattan was "closed" in March 2020 life literally stopped, it took a different direction.I invited to live with me a young girl, Sierra, whom I met two months earlier at a modeling job. Then the idea for cooking dinners and a photo session came. We took the pictures with an iPhone on the rooftop of our loft with a view of the Empire State Building and the Manhattan skyline. We wanted to show something original, the preparations took hours, but unlike the sad streets around, our roof started to pulsate with life. Our session was very popular on social media, which gave us inspiration for new challenges.
